Korle-Bu Hospital Pediatric Oncology Department Receives Aid from LDS Charities

Local leaders from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Ghana presented medical equipment and furnishings to the Pediatric Oncology Department of Korle-Bu Hospital on April 11, 2016. The project was funded by LDS Charities, the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In February, a group of doctors from the United States visited the Korle-Bu Pediatric Oncology Department while in Ghana to provide trauma training at Tema Hospital. (see “Additional Resources”). They identified a serious need for basic medical instruments and equipment in the 24-bed department and recommended the involvement of LDS Charities.

Lorna Renner, head nurse in the Pediatric Oncology Department, expressed gratitude in receiving the donated instruments and equipment. These instruments and equipment will be used to teach students.

A group of local leaders from the Larteblokorshie Stake (a geographic area containing several congregations) participated in the donation ceremony.
