Inter-faith activities foster relationships among residents of Takoradi

Collaborative activities in our communities is one of the key tools used to foster unity among people from all walks of life. It is against this backdrop the leadership of the Takoradi Ghana Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (similar to diocese) partnered other denominations for an inter-faith fun games.

 

The activities which brought together members of the Church and non-members on 1st May, 2018, was part of efforts to build a unified Christian community.

The partner churches were Jesus Cares Gospel Center, Pneuma House of Prayer and the Church of Pentecost all located in the Takoradi area.

“This event has been organized with the aim of fostering cordial relationship between members of the Church and members of other religious bodies within the community” said Justice Oduro-Mensah, Stake President for Takoradi Ghana Stake.

Hundreds of members and non-members attended the event. Games included outdoor sporting disciplines such as football, volleyball, table tennis, and tug-of-war, while indoor games included ludo and oware,

Wives and sisters cheered for their teams, while others shared their skills in preparing the various Ghanaian dishes.

Many participants commented that the program was well organized and must be replicated to help build lasting relationships among individuals of different faiths.

“Our members are extremely excited about this initiative and we look forward to more collaborations with other churches”, said Rev. Kwesi Appiah of Jesus Cares Gospel Center.

The leaders of the other partner churches were Rev. Henry Fletcher and A.T Nartey, Pneuma House of Prayer and Deacon Samuel Pennien of Pentecost.
