Mayor Sowah visited the Africa West Area Office of the Church to present the commendation.
“How do you do it?”, said Mayor Sowah. “Your properties are a bright spot in the great city of Accra. We need to learn from you and share your secrets with others.”
Francis Kazeh-Anfo, Director of Temporal Affairs for the Africa West Area, accepted the plaque and praise from Mayor Sowah. Kazeh-Anfo thanked the mayor for the vote of confidence.
“We have a dedicated staff of employees working on our grounds and the maintenance of our buildings,” remarked Director Kazeh-Anfo. “They each take a personal and dedicated interest in their job responsibilities. The real credit goes to each of them.”
The plaque was also presented to Samuel Dery Saanuo, Supervisor of Grounds, and his crew of five full-time grounds people. This crew is responsible for the gardens, landscape and soft-scapes of the 12.5-acre complex located on Independence Avenue. The complex houses the Accra Ghana Temple, the Africa West Area Office, the newly opened Ghana Missionary Training Center and the Christiansborg Stake meetinghouse.
“We are pleased to be recognized,” said Saanuo. “This award comes from Mayor Sowah and the whole City of Accra. It makes us happy to know that those outside of our Church can see our effort. The award will motivate each of us to work even harder than we have in the past.”
Saanuo continued, “We hope people from all over Accra will come to visit our grounds and see the beautiful gardens and buildings.”
