For The Strength of Youth Conference coincides with International Youth Day

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shares a global concern for the youth of the world.  The focus of the Church is on teaching youth the importance of living moral and ethical lives.  Families are encouraged to teach children to be self-reliant productive members of society.

The International Youth Day, August 12, is a day set aside to celebrate the role of youth in nation building.  Several political and other organizations have made statements in support of youth and in recognition of this day.

The Church periodically schedules activities to strengthen youth.  August 11 – 15, 2015 marked one of these occasions.  546 youth from age 14 to 18 met at Methodist University College in Accra, Ghana under the supervision of Adult leaders in what they called “For the Strength of Youth.”  (FSY)  Moral and religious instruction was combined with social activities for attendees.

A strong emphasis was placed on serving others in communities.  The FSY youth conference was culminated by participation in a day of community service on August 15, 2015.

August 15th marked the 9th annual “All Africa Helping Hands” project sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  On this day members of the Church were joined by other citizens and groups across Africa in community projects.  These projects included such things as painting and cleaning up selected public areas, planting trees, and repairing roads.

A nation is no stronger than its families.
