The La Community Chiefs and People Celebrate new LDS Chapel in their midst

On the 14th of March 2015 all the seven quarters which constituted the La State in Accra Ghana were present in their full fledged capacity during the Open House of the new LDS Chapel for the La and Trade Fair Wards of The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, Accra Ghana Christiansborg Stake in Accra.

The indigenous people of the La community led by the La Mantse who surprised all by being the first to arrive at nine, an hour before the scheduled time of ten o’clock in the morning. They all came to see the Chapel and catch a glimpse of the new building that has changed the horizon of their community. One of the traditional leaders, the La Shikitele (King Maker) Nii Adjei Koofeh IV, whispered with sincere heart to brother Torto O. Nabi Adjah (a member) , evoking the ancient lost words of the La Bonny people declaring, “Oh here is the long awaited beacon of hope, a pure and undiluted hope which emerges from the settling clouds. The Lord has shown His Merciful Eyes on the La Community through The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. This is the true light of Christ.”

The formidable, imposing building from its inception to completion has been the talk of the community. The building according to one of the police officers, a resident in the community, has brightened the community providing both temporal and spiritual light and beauty in the night making its immediate surroundings a peaceful environment to operate.
The building was dedicated by Elder Terence M. Vinson of the Africa West Area Presidency. He prayed that the building will bring peace to all who look upon it and help people focus on Christ our Savior.
