The meeting between the two parties, which took place at the Africa West Area office complex, was part of efforts to strengthen the relationship between leaders of the Church in the Area and the Embassy.The Consul General explained that her office over the years has worked closely with the Church and assured the Area Presidency, they will continue to provide the needed support to all external stakeholders that engage with the U.S., including the Church.
Jayne Howell further stated that the U.S. Embassy is determined to protect the interests of its citizens and also work assiduously to improve bilateral relations with the countries where they are located.
Elder Marcus B. Nash, Area President of the Church’s Africa West Area, remarked, “We are delighted to have you here. I have met a lot of people in Africa, but I must say that you are exceptionally impressive”.
Emelia Ahadjie, Director of Public Affairs for the Church’s Africa West Area, explained that through LDS Charities, the humanitarian arm of the Church, the Church has initiated several important social intervention programs in the health and education sectors that contribute to the development of the countries within the Africa West Area.
