Church Hosts the 187th Semiannual General Conference

Latter-day Saints from around the world will participate in the 187th Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints beginning this weekend. The general women’s session, the first of six sessions of general conference, was held Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. (mountain daylight time) at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City.

Women, young women and girls ages 8 and older are invited to attend in person or to watch a live broadcast online or in local meetinghouses.

Mormons gather twice a year to hear general authorities and other Church leaders share messages of spiritual guidance and inspiration on topics related to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Spring meetings are called annual conferences, and those in fall are referred to as semiannual. Those of other faiths are also invited to participate.

Sessions

Five other sessions of general conference will be broadcast live from the Conference Center at the following times (mountain daylight time):

Saturday Morning Session, September 30, 10:00 a.m.

Saturday Afternoon Session, September 30, 2:00 p.m.

General Priesthood Session, September 30, 6:00 p.m.

Sunday Morning Session, October 1, 10:00 a.m.

The first general conference was held in 1830, the year the Church was first organized. Church membership is more than 16 million worldwide.

Global Audience

The Conference Center seats 21,000 people for each session. Millions more around the world will view or listen in many languages in thousands of buildings around the globe via television, radio, satellite and internet broadcasts.

In addition to broadcasts in local Latter-day Saint chapels around the globe via the Church satellite system, the Church streams and broadcasts the conference live in more than 20 languages on LDS.org, BYUtv, BYUtv International, Mormon Channel and YouTube. General conference talks will also be available over the next couple of weeks on demand on LDS.org, the General Conference YouTube channel and the Gospel Library app in more than 80 languages.
